The Cape Meares State Park Loop is a gorgeous 3 mile loop that travels along the Oregon coastline near the Three Capes. It is labeled as a "moderate loop" on many sites but it's actually a slightly difficult out and back! The loop would include the half mile to and around the lighthouse, but this tail goes about two miles down to the coast where you can spend time at the private beach, and then hike about a mile and a half back up! It's not heavily trafficked because the lighthouse loop brings in so many people, so if you have dogs, this is a great trail to bring them on!
These are the brave friends that came along with me on this crazy adventure!!
This view is from the short half mile walk around the lighthouse, the other side of the cove is where you hike to during the actual state park loop! One thing to note about the state park loop during this time of year, the trail isn't very well maintained, so be prepared to slide around in the mud a bit and possibly climb over a few broken trees!
These are just a few of the views you'll get from your PERSONAL beach! The cove was gorgeous and during low tide had plenty of space to run around with the dogs and explore the tide pools a little bit :)
To get to the trail head, type "Cape Meares Lighthouse" into any map app, it will have you drive 10 miles west on Three Capes Scenic Highway from Tillamook off US 101. You'll see signs for the trail head before reaching the lighthouse, park in this lot and start the trail, or walk the extra half mile down the road to the lighthouse :)
