Abiqua Falls

The one that's impossible to find.

So you may have heard before that Abiqua Falls is one that's truly impossible to find, maybe you think that's exaggerated... It's not. I did two different hikes two different weekends before I finally found the actual waterfall. But I'll tell you one thing- it was completely worth it!!

Now you might look at these two pictures and think... There's no way that's going to the Abiqua Pool, there's too much vegetation and the water looks like a river instead of a waterfall- well you're completely right. These were taken the first time I thought I was hiking Abiqua, which I technically was, but I ended at the top of the falls instead of the bottom. That green rope you can see in the first picture slowly got thinner and thinner as the slope got steeper and steeper, eventually turning into basically dental floss as you scaled a cliff. Now I know what you must be thinking now- how the hell did she think she was going to the pools if she kept climbing up? I truly couldn't answer that question... I really have no idea how I managed that. But at least it turned into a beautiful hike where I got to look over the entire amphitheater of Abiqua Falls.

Eventually we found the correct trailhead, which I dropped a pin at and you can find at the end of this post! It's a beautiful pool surrounded by rocks and a really cool area for a bonfire off to the right of the falls. I do not recommend this hike if you have weak ankles or or knees. Although it is a short hike to the actual falls, there are a lot of sharp rocks and fallen branches that make it tough to stand upright or even standing in general... yes I fell a few times for sure haha This hike is worth the trouble finding it, and has plenty of awesome hikes around it if you don't including Butte Creek!
